Franco's Restaurant is the kind of place you stumble upon and never forget--a true hidden gem in the city! The food here is exceptional, with the fish and greens easily taking center stage for me. But here's the kicker--you can pair your choice of meat with just about any side they offer. There might be a slight upcharge on some of those sides, but trust me, it's well worth it. And if you're feeling nostalgic, don't skip the Kool-Aid. Yes, you read that right--Franco's serves Kool-Aid, and it's hands down my favorite drink to wash down the meal. The fish is fried to order, which means it's always hot and crispy, arriving at your table fresh off the fryer. Pair it with greens that have just the right kick and tender green beans, and you're in comfort food heaven. Every bite is packed with flavor, making you feel like you've just uncovered the best-kept culinary secret in town. Service at Franco's is a breath of fresh air. The staff is friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home the moment you walk in. They strike the perfect balance between being attentive and letting you enjoy your meal at your own pace. The ambiance? Cozy, down-to-earth, and with a vibe that invites you to stay a little longer. You'll quickly find yourself wanting to make this your go-to spot. Now, here's a fun little fact about Franco's: It all started as a family-run pop-up in the owner's backyard. Their mom, according to local legend, was the go-to cook in the neighborhood--famous for her flavorful and hearty meals. She was so good, in fact, that neighbors would line up for her Friday fish fries. The community couldn't get enough and eventually pushed Franco to open the restaurant we now know and love. And lucky for us, the tradition continues! If you're looking for a spot that feels like home but delivers unforgettable food, Franco's is where you need to be. You won't regret it.
If you're looking for Soul Food then this is your place. I have been there three times and each one was a 5 star experience. The food is excellent and portions are good size. The staff is friendly and polite. The dining room is comfortable and always clean. The menu varies by day with items like fried chicken always available. The Franco's is easy to find right of the Dixie and there is plenty of parking. Delicious food, fair price, clean comfortable dining room earns them 5 stars from me.
The fried catfish was fire!!!! Sweet tea was good. And had an excellent time with the homies. Greens were unlike anything we've ever had, not used to them cooked like that but we did try them.
Ham hock, pork chop, meatloaf, sweet taters, mashed taters, tater salad, cabbage, and corn bread were all 5 stars! Customer service 10 stars! Just an amazing restaurant owned by an even more amazing family whom the late Shirley Mae would have been so proud of knowing that her legacy lives on. Wow, just wow! I just may have found my secret go to place for some damn good soul food!
